Makeup extravagant Bobbi brown implies that her cosmetics are there to enhance the beauty and features of a person and not to cover and change the face completely for she feels that makeup is for enhancing and bringing out one’s confidence, not changing the way the look completely.
beginning | Bobbi's love for makeup started at an early age when she discovered her mom's collection of cosmetics up until she graduated, she moved to New York to work as a professional makeup artist.. "One of the best things I had going for me was that I was so naive. I never even thought of not being able to do it. Once I unpacked, I looked up makeup in the phone book. Photographers. Modeling agencies. I had a pretty amateurish portfolio of my makeup work from college--which I can't believe I had the guts to show people. Half of the models were myself." |
Growing up, Bobbi spent a lot of time feeling bad about herself, wanting to be someone she's not, until she saw Ali MacGraw with her bare face and brunette hair that made her finally see the beauty in her. "Being five feet tall, the teeniest of all my friends, made me a little more self-conscious and insecure about the way I look. Makeup was something I could do to make myself look prettier. Like any little girl, my makeup style is the opposite of my mother's. Her's was very '60s, sexy, Twiggy, mod. Mine was very Ali MacGraw in Love Story." | Influences |
EUreka moment | We all have that moment when you say “EUREKA!”or “I’ve an idea!". Bobbi’s beliefs were that the more simple a person appears, the more appealing. Which is why she came up with the idealogy of wearing makeup, but looking as if you’re wearing an all natural face with just a few enhancements here and there. She came up with the concept of “nude makeup” which she suggested be used not for altering the appearance of one’s facial structure but be used for the enhancement of features. Her concept was focused on changing the way the public viewed makeup products. |
In April 2011, Allure magazine named Bobbi one of the five most successful and influential leaders in American beauty, along with her role model, Estée Lauder. In many ways, Bobbi is a 21st century version of The Estée Lauder Companies’ founder. Both women pursued their passions, built global beauty empires from a handful of products, empowered millions of consumers to use cosmetics to polish their self esteem and never let go of their dreams – all while putting family first. | success |
